Home›Gutter Installation›Ashtead
From a tired 1980s plastic system on a semi near the station to a fresh extension waiting for its first gutter, we design and fit new uPVC guttering and downpipes for Ashtead homes, sized to the roof and finished in the colour you choose.
There comes a point when patching an old system stops making sense. Plastic that splinters when you touch it, joints failing one after another, cast iron eaten through by rust or an undersized gutter that floods every summer storm are all signs it is time for something new. Our gutter installation in Ashtead replaces the whole run with modern uPVC, designed around your roof so it carries the water away properly for many years.
You get a choice of profile and colour. Half-round is a classic for period houses and cottages, ogee has a decorative moulded front that looks right on Victorian and Edwardian frontages, square suits crisp modern lines, and deep-flow copes with large roof areas and heavy downpours. Shades run from black and brown through white to anthracite grey, letting the gutters tone in with frames, boards or that freshly rendered extension. Every installation is set with a consistent fall, outlets positioned over existing gullies, and the old gutters and downpipes taken down and removed from your property.

Walk from the station along The Street and up towards Ashtead Park and you pass almost a century of house building. There are Victorian and Edwardian villas with ornate bays, interwar semis with hipped roofs, generous Arts and Crafts detached homes, 1950s and 60s estates in Lower Ashtead and recent infill developments. Each brings its own guttering challenges. Bay windows and porches need extra angles, hipped roofs need corners at every turn, and wide modern roofs collect so much rain that a standard half-round can struggle.
Many of these homes are still on their first plastic system, fitted decades ago when the original timber or cast iron was replaced. That generation of uPVC is now tired, faded and prone to cracking. Replacing it in one go is often more economical than chasing leaks around the house for years, and it gives you a uniform, tidy finish. If your fascias are being renewed at the same time, it makes sense to fit new gutters to the fresh boards.
Big gardens around the village also mean plenty of outbuildings. Garages, garden offices, summerhouses and annexes often go up without proper guttering, leaving water to splash against walls and pool on paths. We fit new systems to these too, connecting them to drains or water butts. We install guttering throughout KT21, from the streets near the Common to the larger homes on the rising ground towards the Downs, and in neighbouring Epsom and Leatherhead.
Here is how a new gutter system is planned and fitted.
A tape goes along each wall, the boards and gullies are inspected, and we chat about shapes and shades over the samples. A written, fixed figure follows, and you are under no obligation.
Your existing gutters, brackets and downpipes are carefully dismantled and lowered, protecting paving and planting below. Everything is loaded onto our van for disposal.
Fixings go up at measured intervals on a slight slope, troughs and angles click together, and each pipe runs down the wall into a gully or a water butt.
A hose fills every stretch so we can watch rain-like flow reach each gully without a single drip. We tidy the site and show you the finished installation before we leave.

Architecture and roof area both steer the decision. Our usual pointers for the village:
Holding a sample section up against your own eaves usually makes the choice obvious.
Each quote is tailored to the property. It comes down to total run length and pipe count, your chosen shape and shade, storey height, the number of angles demanded by bays and dormers, and how much effort the strip-out takes (iron weighs a great deal more than plastic). Since the visit is free and the figure is fixed, nothing changes once you say yes.
If they are faded, brittle or leaking at several joints, replacement is usually the better long-term choice. Many Ashtead homes are on systems of that age. If they are still in reasonable condition, a few repairs may be enough, and we will tell you which.
Gladly. Rear additions, double garages, summerhouses and annexes all get the same care, styled like the main house if that is your preference, and position downpipes to connect with existing drains or a water butt.
Ogee or half-round often look most at home on Edwardian properties, depending on what was fitted originally. We can show you both during the survey so you can choose.
We do, and it is built into the quote. Every bracket, length and pipe, iron included, leaves on our van rather than lingering beside your bins.
Only if the existing ones are rotten or damaged. We inspect them during the survey and let you know. Fixing new gutters to failing timber would shorten their life, so it is worth checking first.
A typical semi or detached house is completed in a single day. Larger homes with many corners, bays or outbuildings may need longer, and we will advise when quoting.
