Home›Gutter Cleaning›Seale
Seale’s farmhouses, cottages and woodland homes sit between the Hog’s Back and Crooksbury’s pines, and their gutters fill accordingly. We empty every run once a year, check each outlet and confirm the downpipes swallow rain before we drive away.
Out on the Farnham end of the Hog’s Back, gutters face two very different sources of debris. Up on the chalk, beech and ash shed broad leaves that pile into soggy wads, while across the sandy heath towards Crooksbury, Scots pine scatter needles that weave into tight mats. Our gutter cleaning in Seale removes both, emptying every length on the house and outbuildings so that winter rain drains away instead of soaking walls and timber.
We work mostly from ground level with a commercial gutter vacuum fixed to carbon poles that extend to around 12 metres, enough for tall farmhouse gables and steep cottage roofs. Gutters over conservatories, garden rooms and stable blocks are reached from the yard or lawn without any ladder touching them. Packed outlets and buried valleys are finished by hand from a safely footed ladder. Before we go, water is poured into each outlet to make sure the downpipe is flowing, and you can ask for photos showing the cleared gutters. If an empty gutter reveals a weeping joint or a slack bracket, we will flag it, and most small fixes can be made there and then with your approval.

Seale spreads itself thinly across farmland and woods instead of huddling round a green. Old farmhouses, converted barns and cottages cluster around St Laurence church and along the lanes running south from the A31, while the wider parish stretches down to The Sands and the wooded slopes of Crooksbury Hill. The northern half sits on chalk below the Hog’s Back, with hedgerows, beech and field maple; the southern half is sandy heath with pine, birch and oak. Homes in both halves end up with full gutters, just with different contents.
Pine needles are the bigger nuisance near Crooksbury and The Sands, where houses often stand in woodland plots. Needles fall all year, gather at outlets and turn into a peaty mat that grows moss and grass. Nearer the ridge, autumn gales shake leaves loose from the hedges and trees of the Hampton Estate farmland and blow them straight onto rooftops. Many properties here also have stables, workshops or long barns, and their gutters are easy to forget until a downpipe overflows into the yard.
Access is usually straightforward but lanes can be narrow and single track, so we plan parking before arriving. We clean gutters throughout GU10 around Seale, including The Sands, the lanes near Manor Farm Craft Centre, and homes towards Tongham, Runfold and Puttenham.
Straightforward from start to finish – here are the four stages of a typical visit.
Message over your Seale postcode with pictures covering every wall of the house plus any barns or stables. A fixed price normally comes back to you the same day, evenings and weekends included.
On arrival we walk the building looking at outlets, valleys, overflow stains and sagging lengths, and agree the full scope, including barns or stables, with you.
The vacuum draws out leaves, needles and grit from every length; compacted outlets and valleys are then hand-cleared from a ladder footed safely on firm ground.
We pour water into each outlet to check the downpipes, sweep up the yard or paths, and send a message, plus pictures if you asked for them, once we leave.

Once a year suits homes on open farmland; properties among the pines near Crooksbury may need two visits. Watch for:
Leaving gutters full over winter risks rotting fascias, damp walls and frost-split joints.

WhatsApp, text or email us your photos and we will return a free price, usually that same day.
Homes in pine woodland tend to need two cleans a year, typically late autumn and late spring. Pine needles fall continuously and knit together at outlets, so waiting a full year often means water starts spilling over before the next clean is due.
Yes. Many Seale properties have stables, field shelters, barns or workshops, and their gutters fill just like the house. Include them in your photos and we will clean them on the same visit.
We use a standard-sized van and portable equipment, so most rural lanes and farm tracks are fine. If there is a weight limit, a tight turn or a gate width to consider, let us know in advance and we will plan accordingly.
No. All the work is done outside. We just need access around the property and an outdoor power socket, and we will let you know when the job is complete.
Yes. The vacuum hose reaches over orangeries, glazed lean-tos and flat-roofed additions from the lawn, so not a single ladder foot or knee goes near the glass.
Each pipe is worked free from its foot upwards and then flushed. Should water still sit there because the jam lies further along the drain run underground, you will get a clear explanation so a drain contractor can take over.
