Tired, cracked or mismatched guttering swapped for a clean new uPVC system sized for wooded hillside rainfall. We plan outlet positions, set a true fall, fit matching downpipes and cart the old material away afterwards.
Sooner or later, mending yet another joint on a worn-out gutter becomes money poorly spent. Brittle plastic that snaps when touched, cast iron cracking at every socket, or a patchwork of three different profiles added over the decades: all of these are better replaced in one go. Our gutter installation Peaslake service removes the failing system and puts up new uPVC guttering and downpipes that look tidy and actually cope with the volume of water running off a steep Surrey Hills roof.
Before anything is ordered we survey the house free of charge, in person or using pictures and tape measurements you supply. We look at the roof area feeding each run, where the existing drains are, and how heavily the trees around your plot shed into the gutters. That decides the profile we suggest and where outlets should go. Half-round suits most cottages, square and deep-flow handle bigger roofs, and ogee gives a crisp, traditional edge. Black, brown, white and anthracite grey finishes are all available. When the new system is up, the old guttering is taken off site with us.

Peaslake houses have a lot of character, and new guttering needs to respect that. The village is full of tile-hung cottages, Bargate stone buildings and generously proportioned Arts and Crafts homes with deep overhangs, catslide roofs and dormers. Many still carry original cast-iron gutters or early plastic replacements that have gone brittle. A carefully chosen uPVC profile in black or a cast-iron-effect finish can look right on these buildings while being far lighter and easier to maintain.
Then there is the sheer volume of water to think about. Roofs in a steep, wooded valley shed water quickly in a downpour, and pine needles from the Hurtwood narrow the effective size of any gutter between cleans. On larger roofs we often recommend deep-flow or square guttering with an extra outlet, so the run is not overwhelmed during a summer storm. Outlets are positioned to line up with existing gullies and soakaways wherever possible, which avoids digging up paths and patios.
Plenty of Peaslake gardens have gained new buildings too: garden studios, garages, log stores, stables and extensions are all common across the GU5 area, from Peaslake village out towards Shere, Gomshall and Ewhurst. These smaller roofs still need a proper fall and a sensible downpipe position, or they end up dumping water by the back door. Whatever the building, we aim for a finish that looks as though it was always meant to be there.
Four clear stages, with no work started until you are happy with the plan and the price.
We measure the runs, note roof areas, existing drains and tree cover, and discuss profile and colour with you, either at the house or from detailed photos you send over.
The written figure lists everything: stripping out, fresh runs, downpipes, brackets and fittings, plus a sketch of where each outlet will drop.
Old guttering comes down, fascias are checked, then new brackets go up at a measured fall. Gutters, outlets and downpipes are fitted and clipped securely.
A hose is run along each new length so we can watch it empty into the correct drain, then remove all old materials and offcuts from site.

Not every gutter needs replacing, and we will say if a repair will do. It is usually time for new guttering on a Peaslake home when you notice:
Replacing the whole elevation at once gives a consistent look and a properly planned fall.
Hillside roofs vary enormously, so we never quote blind. Peaslake installation prices track these points:
Photos with rough measurements are often enough for an initial figure, and we can visit to confirm before you commit.
Half-round in black is the classic choice on cottages and looks at home beside clay tiles and tile-hanging. Ogee gives a slightly more formal edge that suits some Edwardian and Arts and Crafts houses. We can show you samples and talk through what will look right on your property.
Yes, and many homeowners in the Surrey Hills do. Modern uPVC in black or a cast-iron-effect finish is lighter, will not rust and needs far less maintenance. We fit it to the existing fascia where sound and keep the overall look in keeping with the building.
Bigger gutters carry more water, which helps on large or steep roofs, but they still need cleaning because needles and leaves collect in any size. We size the gutters to the roof area and suggest extra outlets where heavy debris could otherwise cause overflows.
Certainly. Sheds, studios and stables account for a good share of our fitting work. We work out the fall and where the downpipe should discharge, whether into a drain, a soakaway or a water butt you would like to use for the garden.
No skip needed. Old plastic and metal guttering, downpipes and brackets are removed from site when the job is finished, and we tidy up around the house so you are not left with any offcuts or rubbish.
Usually. Many homes around Peaslake sit above or below narrow banked lanes, so we check access during the survey and plan where materials and the van will go. Long lengths of gutter can be carried in by hand where vehicles cannot get close.
