We treat each surface on its own terms. Pressure washing can damage soft stone, resin and timber if it is done carelessly, so we adjust the pressure, nozzle and distance to suit the material. Black spots and lichen are pre-treated where needed, and after washing we can apply an optional biocide to slow the return of moss, algae and weeds. Yes. Pressure washing lifts weeds and moss out of the joints along with the surface dirt. In Lightwater’s sandy soil, weeds return quickly once the joints are empty, so we can re-sand the joints afterwards and apply a biocide to help slow regrowth and keep the blocks firmly locked together.
Yes, with the right technique. Porcelain is hard-wearing but the grout can be damaged by too much pressure. We use a suitable setting and angle, and pre-treat any black spots or algae so they lift without the need for excessive force. Porcelain usually comes up looking almost new.
In shady Lightwater gardens some regrowth is inevitable, but an optional biocide treatment after cleaning helps slow it down. Keeping the surface clear of needles and leaves and trimming back overhanging branches to let more light in also helps. Brushing the patio occasionally between cleans makes a noticeable difference.
Yes. Resin-bound and tarmac drives need a careful, lower-pressure approach to avoid loosening the stones or the surface. We clean them to remove moss, algae and dirt, taking particular care around the edges, drainage channels and any areas that are already worn or cracked.
We do. Decking under Lightwater’s trees often becomes green and slippery, particularly on the shady side of the garden. We use a lower pressure suitable for timber and composite boards, removing algae and grime without raising the grain, splintering the wood or marking the surface.
No one needs to stay in. Provided we can reach the paving, connect to an outdoor tap and plug into a power point, the job can be done while you are out. Gates are closed behind us and you will hear from us once the surfaces are clean and dry.
