Replacement and brand-new uPVC guttering designed around the roof it serves – from sweeping Wentworth rooflines and coach houses to garden studios. Correct capacity, a smooth fall to every outlet and the old system cleared off site.
A large roof sheds a remarkable volume of water in a summer cloudburst, and gutters that were adequate for a modest house can be overwhelmed on a home with wide slopes and long eaves. Our gutter installation in Virginia Water starts with that question of capacity. We calculate how much roof drains into every length of gutter, the number and position of downpipes and where water can be safely discharged, then recommend a system that will cope rather than one that simply fits.
Profiles include traditional half-round, crisp square-line, the moulded ogee that suits many period and Arts and Crafts homes, and deep-flow for roofs that shed a lot of water. Finishes come in four shades – black, brown, white and anthracite grey – with the grey a favourite match for modern glazing and dark window frames. We remove the existing gutters and downpipes, check the fascia behind them, string-line the new brackets so every length falls evenly to its outlet, and take every scrap of old material away with us.

Virginia Water’s housing is unusually diverse for a single village. There are Edwardian and inter-war houses close to the station and Christchurch, handsome Arts and Crafts villas under steep clay-tiled roofs, and a large number of modern mansions on and around the Wentworth Estate. Many of these have extensive rooflines with several wings, dormers and lower-level roofs, and their original gutters were not always generously sized. Where we see repeated overflows on a clean gutter, upgrading to deep-flow is often the answer.
There is also a lot of building work going on. Extensions, orangeries, garden offices, pool houses and new garages are common on larger plots, and each needs guttering that matches the main house and discharges properly. Coach houses and stable conversions, which feature on a number of Virginia Water properties, often still have mismatched or failing gutters from earlier repairs.
The local setting influences the choices too. With so many pines and birches in GU25, a smooth-bore profile with good fall and well-placed outlets is easier to keep clear. Homes near the lake and in sheltered, damp spots benefit from downpipes that discharge into working gullies rather than onto paving. Owners of listed buildings should confirm any requirements with Runnymede Borough Council before choosing materials.
Advice first, careful fitting second, and nothing left behind afterwards.
We measure the runs, assess roof area and downpipe positions, and recommend a profile and colour. A written, fixed quote follows with no obligation to go ahead.
Existing gutters, brackets and downpipes are dismantled carefully to protect fascias, render and stonework. We point out any rotten timber before fitting starts.
Brackets are positioned along a string line so the gutter drops steadily to each outlet. Corners and end caps clip in next, then each downpipe is plugged into its outlet and clipped tight to the wall.
Each run is filled with water to confirm it drains fully. All offcuts, packaging and old guttering are removed, leaving your drive and borders exactly as tidy as before.

Architecture and rainfall load both steer the decision. Broadly speaking:
Bring your questions to the survey visit, where we can hold up sample pieces against your fascias.
Installation is always priced after a free survey. Factors that influence the quote include:
Start by messaging a few pictures and a line about which gutters are bothering you.
Often, yes. Broad, long slopes funnel a huge volume into the gutter during a downpour, and standard gutters can overflow even when clean. Deep-flow carries far more, so it is worth considering if you see water spilling over during storms.
Anthracite grey is the popular choice alongside modern grey frames and cladding. Black also works well and has a more traditional feel. We can show you how each looks against your fascias before you decide.
Yes. New outbuildings are common on larger GU25 plots and need guttering that discharges somewhere sensible, such as a gully, soakaway or water butt. We fit systems to match the main house where you want a consistent look.
Yes. Cast iron is heavy and can be brittle, so we take it down carefully to protect the brickwork and fascias, and every length, pipe and bracket leaves with us in the van.
A well-fitted system with a proper fall and correctly placed outlets drains better and is easier to keep clean, but it will not stop needles landing in it. Regular cleaning is still needed under pines.
Like-for-like replacement on most homes does not need permission. If your property is listed or affected by specific planning conditions, check with Runnymede Borough Council before changing the material or appearance.
