Fresh uPVC guttering and downpipes for Thames Ditton houses, garages and garden studios. Out goes the tired system, up goes a new one pitched gently towards each outlet, and the scrap leaves on our van.
Patch a gutter often enough and you eventually spend more on fixes than a new system would cost. If each January delivers a fresh crack, the fixings are crumbling out of rotten timber and the once-black plastic has faded to dusty grey, starting again is usually the wiser spend. Our gutter installation in Thames Ditton ranges from re-guttering an entire house to giving a newly built extension, garage, workshop or garden office the drainage it was never given.
It all starts with a survey that costs you nothing. We run a tape along every eave, weigh up how much rain each roof slope will shed, and plan outlet and downpipe positions so that no single stretch carries more than it can handle. Then comes the fun part: picking a shape – traditional half-round, neat square-line, roomy deep-flow or the moulded ogee – and a finish from the usual four colours. On fitting day the old guttering is unscrewed and lowered with care, the fascia gets a once-over, new brackets go up at the manufacturer’s spacing and each run is pitched evenly. All the scrap goes on our van, leaving nothing in your skip or your side return.

Thames Ditton’s character comes from its variety: whitewashed cottages and Georgian frontages near the church and the river, red-brick Victorian villas around Giggs Hill Green, roomy Edwardian family houses towards Weston Green, and inter-war semis further back from the water. Each style suits a different gutter. Ogee and half-round in black tends to sit best on period properties, while square-line in white or grey often looks sharper on later homes and contemporary extensions.
Parts of the village fall within conservation areas, and on homes like these it is worth keeping the look of the roofline in step with the street. Many owners of older houses opt for a cast-iron-effect black uPVC that copies the traditional appearance while needing far less upkeep. Where the original is real cast iron that has corroded beyond saving, it can come down in sections and a far lighter plastic equivalent can go up in its place, keeping the same silhouette from the pavement.
Capacity matters here too. Large roofs, steep slopes and the heavy summer downpours that sweep along the Thames valley can swamp a standard gutter, especially on long rear elevations or where two slopes meet. On bigger KT7 properties we often recommend deep-flow gutters or an extra downpipe, so water is carried away even in the worst storms rather than spilling onto paths and patios.
Four stages, each agreed in advance, so nothing about the work comes as a surprise.
We visit your Thames Ditton home, run a tape along each eave, look over the fascias and help you weigh up shapes, shades and where downpipes would work best.
A written price follows, spelling out the system, the finish, how many downpipes and the disposal of what comes down. Any change afterwards happens only with your say-so.
Existing runs and pipes are dismantled, new fixings are spaced to the maker’s guidance, and every length is pitched slightly towards its outlet so rain never lingers.
A hose goes into each run so we can watch the water reach the gully, every downpipe joint gets checked, and the old material goes on the van with your drive swept clean.

Fixing one failed joint is sensible; fixing the fifth in two years is not. New guttering is usually the better investment if you notice:
If a few new parts would genuinely solve the issue, that is what we will recommend instead of a whole system.
Because every price follows a proper measure-up, it covers your house and nothing generic. These are the things that shift it:

Usually, yes, provided the new gutters look in keeping. Cast-iron-effect black uPVC is a common choice on period homes in the village. Listed buildings can have stricter rules, so if yours is listed, a quick conversation with the Elmbridge planning team before choosing materials is sensible.
Black half-round or ogee is the traditional look for houses of that age and sits comfortably with original brickwork and sash windows. Ogee has a decorative stepped face, whereas half-round is plainer and still carries plenty of water off an ordinary roof.
It leaves with us. Every installation quote already allows for carting off the old plastic, fixings and pipework. Cast iron weighs considerably more, which we factor in when quoting, but you still won’t find rusty sections stacked by the bins.
Absolutely. Garden rooms and garages often go up with no drainage at all, so rain runs off the edge and soaks the ground along one side. A matching gutter and downpipe fixes that, with the water sent to an existing drain or into a water butt for the garden.
Black, brown, white and anthracite grey cover nearly every home. We help you weigh up window frames, fascias and brick tone, so the finished guttering looks like part of the house rather than an afterthought.
We look closely at the timber the moment the old gutter is off. Any soft or decayed patches are shown to you before fitting starts, since brackets screwed into rotten wood will not hold a full gutter through a wet winter.
